Born and raised in Israel, educated in Europe and in the United States, Oren Lukatz has a Masters in Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI).
As a student his work represented SFAI at Art Chicago and was exhibited at the Diego Rivera Gallery and the De Young Museum of Art in San Francisco.
During his Masters at SFAI Lukatz studied under the late Henry Wessel and was inspired by the vernacular landscapes of the American West. Upon graduation he showed Americana, his first solo exhibition and catalog, at Rosenfeld Gallery in Tel-Aviv, Israel. This body of work depicted scenes from Las Vegas, Disneyland and the suburbs of the Bay Area.
Adopting social documentary style Lukatz photographed in both analog and digital, positioning himself as a voyeur/visitor to landscapes, people and situations. This viewpoint, rooted in being a midlife immigrant to the U.S. went along with his personality and spirit.
Since 2010 Lukatz has been working on several photographic bodies of work which appeared in publications, been purchased by collectors and were shown in galleries, art fairs, the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art and in Review Santa Fe (2017 & 2019).
As part of his interest in technology, people and global changes Lukatz is currently working on a multimedia project commenting on social media.
